Setting Seed Generator
A browser-only setting seed generator for original places, rules, pressures, and sensory details.
Use this local generator when a story needs a place that can change decisions. The output combines a location, a social rule, a pressure point, and a sensory detail.
Generate a setting seed
The result is meant to become a scene constraint, not a background encyclopedia entry.
Local data only. No account, tracking, or external API is required.
Use the seed
- Put a character’s goal in conflict with the local rule.
- Show the rule through an ordinary action before explaining it.
- Let one sensory detail return at a moment of pressure.
- Decide who profits from the rule and who quietly resents it.
Expansion pass
After choosing a seed, add only three facts: a daily habit, a public consequence, and a private exception. That is usually enough to draft a scene without slowing into reference notes.
Keep, change, cut
Keep the generated rule if it forces a character to choose between comfort and consequence. Change the place if it feels like scenery without pressure. Cut any sensory detail that only decorates the paragraph and replace it with something a character can notice, avoid, use, or misread.
For revision, connect the seed to one practical limit: time, distance, access, reputation, money, weather, law, or trust. A setting becomes memorable when it changes what action is possible.
